First Tee Florida Gold Coast Introduces Kids to Golf
Club 100 Charities is proud to have sponsored 24 youngsters between the ages of Kindergarten and Middle school for a 5 day session with the First Tee organization of Palm Beach. For most, this was their first exposure to a sport other than soccer, basketball, or baseball. Besides just hitting and putting golf balls they had lots of fun chipping at targets, running relay races, learning about honesty, sportsmanship, and safety on the golf range.
The kids were great in their attitude and willingness to help pick up after each session. Picking up golf balls from the range was even fun. The best time though was on the last day when they each received water balloons for a real water battle. Most ganged up and chased Coach Robert hitting him several times with their balloons. Coach Robert is a high school senior on the Varsity Golf Team. Many of the kids began by air whiffing most of their swings, and Coach Roberts could relate when he was at the same level. Then he’d windup and hit a ball out of sight. The oohs, and ayahs said it all, and really piqued their interest and made them think they could do it too.
